Chisinau appeals to OSCE Mission to Moldova

Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic today met Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The officials discussed the results of the recent visit to Moldova by Slovakia Special Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office for the Transnistrian settlement process Franco Frattini. They approached the range of current issues requiring constant OSCE involvement to achieve immediate solutions, including the issue of so-called vignette payments, illegitimately applied by de facto structures in the Transnistrian region on drivers of vehicles, holders of national model registration plates, who are citizens of Moldova.
Tiraspol obstacles in the free movement towards the localities in the eastern districts of the country were also on the agenda of talks, focusing on the recent unilateral actions of representatives of the alleged structures in the region to limit the free movement of people, the issue on unhindered movement in / through the region by officials remains unresolved, as well as the need to move forward with the support of the OSCE Mission to finalize a comprehensive technical expertise of the bridge between Gura Bacului and Bacioc.
The deputy premier said that to examine current developments on the situation in Varnita village, Anenii Noi district, in the context of information received from Tiraspol on 13 May 2019 as regards the cancellation of the so-called regional act of 25 January 2019, will pay a fact-collecting visit to that locality in the near future.
Also, they discussed the situation in the Security Zone, the measures taken and the ones due to be taken to optimize the mechanism for monitoring, reporting and resolving emerging incidents, reiterating the importance of a productive contribution of the OSCE to these processes.
