Moldova's Competition Council to investigate on ocurring of cartel agreement in rising fuel prices

Chisinau, 16 May /MOLDPRES/ – The Competition Council (CC) has announced today that it has been self – inflicted as a result of rising oil prices. The CC has initiated an investigation to determine whether there was a cartel agreement on it.
"We are concerned that these increases take place simultaneously at several oil companies, which stirs doubts they have acted independently," says the institution press release.
Also, the CC states that, in order to elucidate this case, it will cooperate with other entities being open to receive any info that would elucidate its circumstances.
The major part of filling stations have boosted the petrol and diesel prices by an average of 5.1 – 5.4 per cent today. The representatives of the Energy Regulatory Agency (ARE) have said that fuel prices are due to higher oil barrel prices on international market, and wholesale and import prices of petroleum products increased by 06 – 09 per cent.
The pump price for the most demanded fuel Premium – 95 displayed by filling stations today, was up to MDL 19.47 and for diesel up to MDL 17.45 per litre.
