Chisinau, 17 May /MOLDPRES/- The bilateral partnership between Moldova and North Carolina is an eloquent example of beneficial cooperation, built over 20 years and used for many projects in the defense, social and education sectors. The statement was made by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi and North Carolina State Secretary Elaine F. Marshall at a today's meeting at the ministry, the MAEIE’s press service has reported.
The two officials exchanged views on the current stage of the partnership relations, efficiency of projects in implemented or are under implementation in Moldova with the support of North Carolina in the education, defense, environment etc. They noted that the successful history of this collaboration creates all the premises for the renewal of the Memorandum of principles and procedures between Moldova and North Carolina, which will extend and deepen the bilateral partnership in the future.
Ulianovschi said that the Moldovan authorities are interested in deepening the partnership with North Carolina, because thanks to the technical, logistical and financial support of the partners in this state, a lot of important projects for our country have been implemented. "I am pleased to note that our partnership with North Carolina could be considered a model partnership between a US state and another country. The partnership is in line with the strategic dialogue between the US and the Republic of Moldova and we are firmly committed to advancing and expanding bilateral cooperation in new areas - information and communication technology, university-industry partnerships and economic cooperation etc," he said.
Elaine F. Marshall reconfirmed the willingness of the authorities of North Carolina to extend bilateral cooperation with Moldova, including by diversifying the areas of cooperation, and pointed out that the renewal of the Memorandum of principles and procedures will open new opportunities in this direction. "We want and can help the Republic of Moldova with several important projects in different areas of national interest for it, as demonstrated during the 20 years of collaboration. I am convinced that in the future our partnership will be just as effective as it is to date,” the official said.
