Moldovan swimmer candidate for Nobel Peace Prize 2019 participates in 9th issue of Olympic Fest

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ – The centre of Chisinau municipality has gathered today thousands of passionate sportsmen, including officials, professionals and amateurs of various ages, at the Olympic Fest, 9th issue. The official opening ceremony was also attended by swimmer Ion Lazarenco, candidate of Moldova for the Nobel Peace Prize 2019. The Moldavian sportsman is the first man on the globe who managed to cross seven straits from the first attempt, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The swimmer of performance has encouraged young people to be always the followers of a healthy lifestyle as far as it is the key to success. Also, he urged citizens to contribute to promotion of peace and national values. "I swam in all 7 straits of the world and in other oceans, rivers and lakes where I was very proud to pick up our flag and want to wish you, the future champions, to be proud of our flag and our country. You are the true ambassadors of peace, because sport is the image of peace," said Ion Lazarenco.
The Olympic Fest is organised in the context of the Day of Sportsman and Olympic Movement, marked on 18 May, to encourage citizens to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Throughout the day, the participants have had the opportunity to affirm themselves, next to best athletes and coaches, in various kinds of sports, as: athletics, tennis, badminton, tennis, karate and basketball.
This year issue is dedicated to the European Games in Minsk 2019, which will take place in June 2019.
