Dozens of households in north affected by rains of last days

Chisinau, 21 May /MOLDPRES/- Following heavy rainfall that occurred in recent days, dozens of households in the north of the country have been affected. The waters flooded the basements of several institutions and sank wells.
IGSU Press Officer Liliana Puscasu said that over the past 24 hours, the firemen were required in at least 20 cases for water evacuation that had passed through the gardens, cellars and basements of households in the country.
Most requests were registered in Rascani district, where the rescuers pumped water from eight private households. Firemen intervened to evacuate the water that penetrated the basement of Zaicani kindergarten, Rascani district. In Rubleniţa, Soroca, the IGSU employees cleaned the mud that affected eight wells in the village.
The intervention of the rescuers was also needed in the localities of Ocniţa, Sîngerei, Drochia, Edinet, Călăraşi, Rezina and Ungheni districts. Hundreds of hectares of agricultural crops have been affected by the rainfall. The emergency commissions are currently working to estimate the damage.
