Chisinau, 22 May /MOLDPRES/ - The wines produced in Moldova have got 34 medals at Galicja Vitis international contest, recently held in Poland. The great winner of the contest was declared the wine Negru de Purcari (Black of Purcari), which won the distinction Grand Gold.
Moldova was represented at the event by 29 wine-makers, who proposed 103 samples of wines. The latter were analyzed by a jury made up of experienced oenologists and sommeliers, with the highest number of points being 100. Thus, Moldovan wines competed at eight basic categories, getting 92 points for the Grand Gold medal, 86 points for the Gold Medal and 82 points for the Silver Medal.
Director of the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV) Gheorghe Arpentin said that any distinction won by the Wine of Moldova was a reconfirmation of the fact that the efforts made by Moldovan wine-makers had not been in vain. “The Wine of Moldova won medals at the most representative contest on the market of Poland’s – one of the biggest importers of bottled Moldovan wines. This success offers us certainty that we will be able to even easier persuade Polish consumers that the Wine of Moldova deserves to stay on the same shelf with the wines coming from different well-known vine-growing and wine-making regions,” Arpentin noted.
According to ONVV, in early may, the Wine of Moldova distinguished itself at the Brussels World Wine Contest – a key event for the world of wine. Moldova won 36 medals, of which one Grand Gold, ten gold ones and 25 silver medals.
