U.S. dollar to exceed threshold of 18 Moldovan lei on days to come

Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/ – In upcoming days, the U.S. dollar (USD) will exceed the threshold of MDL 18.00. It will increase by five MDL 0.05 and have an official price of MDL 18.03, according to data from the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).

On the other hand, by weekend, the euro (EUR) will cheapen against the Moldovan leu (MDL) down to MDL 20.07. The Russian rouble (RUB) will depreciate with MDL 0.01 down to MDL 0.27.

The Romanian leu will remain at the level of MDL 04.21, similar with the Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH) – MDL 0.68.

According to the BNM's data, in April 2019, the net foreign exchange supply of individuals has exceeded by 24.4 per cent the net demand of foreign currency from economic agents. The net demand for foreign currency coverage by net foreign exchange was 124.4 per cent. Also, in April, the MDL cost depreciated, in average values, by 2.9 per cent against USD.
