Four suspected cases of measles recorded in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/- Four suspected cases of measles were recorded by specialists of the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) in Drochia.
An epidemiologist at the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP), Laura Turcan, said that all four patients are part of the Roma community and attended a wedding.
According to ANSP, the cases of measles recorded in Moldova reached 363, out of which 341 in 2018. A significant increase in the number of illness was recorded in August 2018, with 239 confirmed cases.
Epidemiologists remind people that measles is a highly contagious disease and is spreading rapidly. The first sign of the infection is the high fever, which lasts for 1-7 days. Pneumonia is the most common cause of death in measles.
Measles can only be prevented by vaccination. In Moldova, vaccination is carried out at one year, 6-7 years, 14-15 years old. Vaccination is free for all those eligible.
