Moldova gets over 40 tractors by support of Japanese government

Chisinau, 29 May /MOLDPRES/ – The farmers of Moldova will benefit from brand new tractors. The farmers will receive about 40 technical vehicles worth MDL 25 million. It has been approved today a decision on it at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The project aims at capitalising on the budget of MDL 25 million accumulated from the sale of another 106 tractors purchased out of the grant of the Government of Japan for implementation of the Conservative agriculture project – Developing a sustainable soil management system in Moldova.

The money will be used to buy tractors for vineyards and orchards, as these machines are more often requested by farmers in Moldova. The tractors are to be bought by the Procurement agent designated by the Japanese side and delivered subsequently to Moldova.

The action is the 2nd phase of the project, based on the Grant Agreement between the Governments of Moldova and Japan, signed in 2017. Following the expansion of bilateral economic cooperation, the Government of Japan offered Moldova a grant worth 500 million Japanese yen (JP¥).
