Moldovan PM says Chisinau municipality needs well thought-out development strategy, vision

Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, has participated today at the Investment Forum Chisinau, organised for the first time by the City Hall, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM has specified that Chisinau municipality is the economic centre of Moldova. This is where almost half of its population lives, it is gathered the largest labour force, and there are most of companies that generate the highest incomes and budget payments. Therefore, when there are elaborated and promoted state policies, at Government level, regardless of the field, it is taken into account their impact on the population and economic agents in Chisinau.
Also, the Prime Minister has referred upon the problems of Chisinau that need to be solved. "I also go to work on similar roads that all the citizens of Chisinau come to, see the streets of chaotic construction, street trade, sometimes in traffic jams. I very much want the city of Chisinau to become a place where my children and grandchildren, yours ones, of all, will no longer want to go abroad. The entrepreneur should want to do business here, and the investor – to feel safe and welcoming with hospitality here," said Pavel Filip.
In this context, the head of the Cabinet has said that the city needs a well-thought – out development strategy, a vision. Taking into account the existing realities, the Premier pointed out several priorities to be implemented in upcoming perspectives so as to attract foreign investment in Chisinau:
1. The pattern of permissive acts in construction. As a result of the reform in the field, there were halved today both the number of proceedings and duration of acts.
2. Elimination of corruption in the local (APL) and central public administration (APC) institutions. At present, there are issued 43 documents through the single window, and there will be added 85 more soon.
3. Transparency of relations of state and entrepreneur, so that the entrepreneur is motivated to be honest with the state regarding the payment of taxes.
4. Liberalisation of labour market and employee – employer relationships. On it, it has been amended the Labour Code.
5. Justice. Strengthening this area can provide more security as to local, so foreign investors.
The Premier has concluded that the city possesses great potential and there will be figured out solutions to these issues by common efforts, so that Chisinau can become a modern city to be proud of.
The Investment Forum Chisinau is held for two days. The event includes officials, local businessmen, and from Romania, Ukraine, Sweden and Latvia.
