Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/- The most successful investment projects in the agro-industrial field were yesterday appreciated within the Gala of Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA), third issue. 19 farmers, companies and associations were awarded at the event. They have significantly contributed to the development of agriculture in 2018, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip congratulated the winners and said the results confirm that agriculture is constantly developing in terms of quality and quantity of harvest. "The good results have also been positively reflected in the investment process, contributing to attracting record investment, creating new jobs, increasing taxes to the national public budget,” he said.
The premier noted that agriculture is as a priority of the current government. First, debts to subsidies to farmers were liquidated. Subsequently the subsidy fund was increased to 900 million lei annually. Last year, for the first time, subsidies were granted in advance to young farmers and female farmers. Through this program, 66 young entrepreneurs received funding for their businesses worth 83 million lei. "Just last year, as a result of the subsidies paid to farmers, investments worth over 6.1 billion lei were attracted in the agro-industrial sector, almost 2 times more than in 2016. These investments have generated the creation of a minimum of 3,500 new jobs and 2,000 seasonal jobs,” Filip said.
The premier encouraged farmers to apply innovative methods in the agro-industrial sector so as to create an efficient agriculture. "We need innovation and technology. I'm glad to see that more and more farmers put their trust less on "how God will give" and more on technology, equipment and machinery. I want our farmers to focus on high added-value products that will bring income, " he said.
