Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ – At the Joint Control Commission's (CUC) meeting on 30 May, the Moldovan delegation continued its efforts to examine the violations found in Security Zone (ZS) committed by the Tiraspol military formations of border guards and restore the situation to the one stipulated by rigour acts, the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.
Thus, the discussions focused on the abusive installation of a post of Transnistrian border guards ("Курган Славы"), in perimetre of locality Pohrebea, instead of "militia" one.
The issues raised by the Transdniestrian side are irrelevant, as there would have been no changes in infrastructure and actual increases. The border guard structures have specific tasks related to border control.
The unilateral installation of this new bordering station is flagrantly contradictory to provisions of protocol of extraordinary meeting of CUC on 16 February 2012, which decided to exclude "border guard", the control being placed under the responsibility of police and militia structures.
In that case, following the refusal of interlocutors to place the subject on agenda, it was made a consensual decision to request military observers to inspect the reference location, with emphasis on compliance with provisions of that protocol.
The Moldovan delegation considers that the recent changes in the alleged forces structures on the left bank of the Dniester, namely the transfer of additional competences of posts to border guards, are part of efforts of Transnistrian administration to set a "border" in ZS. These intentions are unacceptable and contradict the basic agreements and protocols signed within peacekeeping mission.
During the meeting, it was approved the report of Joint Military Command (CMI) on situation in ZS for 22 – 28 May.
