Summer begins with rainy , warm weather in Moldova

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - Rainy weather, with air temperatures specific for the season is maintained next week, according to the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS).
Thunderstorm rains are expected all over Moldova, especially in the northern region, on the first days of summer. Rains and sun are forecast for the concerned period, with the air temperatures varying between +23 and +30 Celsius degrees during the day. The highest air temperature, +32 degrees, is expected in the southern region on 3 June. At night, the maximal air temperature will be +18 degrees.
In June, the multi-annual average air temperature is oscillating between + 17.8 degrees in the northern region and +20 degrees in the south. The coldest June for all the period of measurements was recorded in 1949, when the average monthly air temperature fluctuated between 15.1 Celsius degrees in Briceni and +17 degrees in Tiraspol. The warmest June was registered in 2007 and 2012. In the concerned years, the average monthly air temperatures oscillated between +20.6 degrees in Briceni and +24 degrees in Dubasari.
Heavy rains and hail, recorded annually, pose the greatest danger out of all the bad weather phenomena. Long rains are possible one average once in four years, strong winds (with a speed higher than 25 metres/second) – on average once in three years. Tornadoes may occur too. Thus, a tornado which caused considerable damage to the national economy was registered in the Slobozia and Causeni districts on 27 June 1980.
