Moldovan PM meets official of U.S. Department of State

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan-American relations and possibilities of further strengthening the bilateral dialogue today were discussed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Director of the Office of Eastern European Affairs at the U.S Department of State Bradley Freden, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
PM Pavel Filip appreciated the good cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic fields, democratic reforms and combating the trafficking of human beings. He noted that Moldova attached special importance to the bilateral ties with the United States. The boosting of the Moldovan-American dialogue ensures a better turning to account of the support provided by the USA for the democratic processes and implementation of the structural reforms, in accordance with the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
The officials highlighted the good results of the American mission of business people, held in Chisinau on 10-12 April 2019, stressing the interest for a more intense turning to account of the economic and investment potential.
The prime minister also praised the U.S. support within the Transnistrian conflict settlement process in the five-plus-two format, in order to identify a political solution to the Transnistrian problem.
For his part, Bradley Freden said that the USA would back Moldova in continuation in the implementation of the democratic and structural reforms, turning to account of the European integration and consolidation of the institutional capacities.
Since 1992, the United States has provided Moldova with financial assistance worth more than 1.4 billion dollars. In 2018, the assistance offered to Moldova through the United States Agency for International Development amounted to over 32 million dollars.
