Over 250 hectares of land, several road sections damaged by rains

Chisinau, 4 June /MOLDPRES/- Over 250 hectares of land in Ocniţa district and several kilometers of road in the center and south of the country were affected by the rains.

The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Liliana Puscasu, said that the heavy rain had damaged 0.3 km of local road in Chiştelnita, Teleneşti district, and in Ocniţa 120 ha of sunflower and 130 ha of orchards were affected.

“Rainfall had done damage in Soroca district, where 1 km of local road was affected, and two houses and three cellars were flooded. In Giurgiulesti, Slobozia Mare, Cucoara and Văleni, several private households were affected. Here was the need for rescue workers to pump water from cellars, basements and houses. Heavy rain was recorded in the capital too. Firemen intervened to pump water from four houses and six basements,” Puscasu said.

IGSU employee intervention was needed in suburbs Cruzesti, Gratiesti, Tohatin and Cheltuitori, where the water came to the courtyards of people. Damages were recorded in Ialoveni, Straseni, Hancesti and Cantemir. Territorial commissions for emergencies are to estimate the damage.
