Meteorologists inform about Yellow Code of storm in Moldova

Chisinau, 4 June /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has informed about a Yellow Code of heavy thunderstorm rains, hail and storm.
According to meteorologists, thunderstorm rains are forecast for the aforementioned period, heavy ones in some regions (15-35 litres/square metre) with hail and stormy wind gusting to 15-20 metres/second.
Data of multiannual observations shows that June is, in fact, the rainiest month of the year. The average monthly quantity of precipitation all over Moldova is 62-65 mm and the number of days with precipitation is 10-13. According to multiannual observations, the biggest quantity of monthly precipitation amounted to 330 mm (Branesti, Rascani district, 1985) and the biggest daily quantity of precipitation – 193 mm (Valea Rusului, Falesti district, 1985).
The heavy rains with hail, signaled annually, pose the greatest danger in June out of the bad weather phenomena. Long-lasting rains are possible on average once in four years, strong winds (with a speed higher than 25 metres/second) – on average once in three years.
A Yellow Code of local sub-flooding remains in force till 7 June. Hydrologists issued the code, given information by the meteorological centre on the heavy precipitation due all over Moldova, quite heavy rains in places.
The rainy weather will maintain during this week, especially in northern Moldova, where rains are expected practically daily. Yet, the precipitation will not influence the air temperatures: up to +30 Celsius degrees during the day and between +13 and +18 degrees at night.
