Chisinau, 4 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip and President of the International Cooperative Alliance Ariel Guarco today discussed possibilities of development of the consumption cooperatives in Moldova and diversifying the forms of their work, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM expressed the cabinet’s openness for backing the further development of the cooperative movement and implementation of new visions in the sector. “The state’s role is to provide equal conditions for all actors. We also do this through the reforms we promote, beginning with the regulatory reform: cutting the number of institutions with control duties, up to the fiscal reform, so as to get out the pressure from the business environment, including from the consumer cooperative. I am sure that the impact of these reforms is felt by everybody,” Pavel Filip said.
The prime minister noted that the government was willing to stimulate the sales of the consumer cooperative, in order to have bigger contributions to the budget and implement more social projects for the people. Filip also said that the implementation of modern technologies, as well as the taking over of good international practices in the field would help develop this sector.
President of the International Cooperative Alliance Ariel Guarco confirmed willingness to share the experience gained and to support the consumer cooperative from Moldova in the process of modernization and adjusting the national legislation to the European standards.
At present, the consumer cooperative from Moldova provides services to over 57 per cent of the country’s residents. More than 4,000 employees work in this sector and Moldcoop’s sales amount to more than one billion lei annually. The institution yearly pays over 120 million lei contributions to the state budget.
