National Army continues to work as usual, not get involved in crisis - Ministry of Defense says

Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/- The National Army continues to work normally, does not get involved in the crisis, and will remain outside the political games. The position was exposed by the leadership of the Defense Ministry in a press release.
According to the Article 108(1) of Moldovan Constitution, Armed forces are subordinated exclusively to the will of the people to guarantee sovereignty, independence and unity, territorial integrity of the country and constitutional democracy.
"At the same time, according to the law No345 on national defense, the leadership of the national defense system is an exclusive and inalienable prerogative of the constitutional authorities of the state. As long as there is no clear certainty in the political situation in the country, the National Army is subordinated only to the constitutional order, "the press release said.
To reduce the risk of escalation, in accordance with internal regulations applicable in special situations, access to all military units and institutions of the Ministry of Defense is forbidden to anyone except for the institution's staff for a limited time depending on the evolution of the situation.
