Pavel Filip calls for normal functioning of public institutions to be ensured so that citizens not affected

Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip today summoned ministers, state secretaries, heads of agencies and public institutions to discuss how the government operates in the current political situation. The prime minister asked to be ensured normal activity of public institutions under the Constitution and the laws of the country, so that citizens will not suffer from political crisis, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
On 7 June, the Constitutional Court noted that the deadline for forming government has expired and the President is forced to dissolve Parliament. As the head of state refused to fulfill constitutional obligations, the court found the circumstances justifying the dissolution of parliament and decided that the decree on the dissolution of the legislature and holding of snap polls is to be signed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip as interim president. On 9 June Pavel Filip signed a decree on holding elections on 6 September.
At the same time, the Constitutional Court declared unconstitutional the presidential decree of 8 June 2019 on appointment of the candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Moldova, the presidential decree of 8 June 2019 on appointment of the Moldovan government and parliament’s decision of 8 June 2019 on election of speaker.
