Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/- The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova issued today a press release announcing that “it regrets the vehement attacks against it and condemns the political pressures it was subjected in recent days.”
"In a state consolidated on the values of democracy and rule of law in which a Constitutional Court operates, its decisions should be given proper weight, given its role as sole interpreter of the Law. The Constitutional Court is the only authority independent of any other authority, subject only to the Constitution," it reads.
The Constitutional Court judges are irremovable during their mandate. Their interpretations have constitutional force. "Any influence or interference by politicians in the country or abroad is inadmissible and should be treated as an attack on the Constitution. In any conflict that comes to be judged by the Court there are contradictory positions and there may be dissatisfied with the solution. However, once a decision has been adopted, it must be respected and enforced. It is objectionable only scientifically and cannot be ignored, " the press release says.
The court magistrates announce “all documents of the Constitutional Court were based on the Constitution and constitutional jurisprudence, in compliance with the standards of legal argument”.
"The court requires state authorities to observe the Constitution, laws and mandatory solutions of the Court," it reads.
