MPs of ACUM bloc, Party of Socialists of Moldova hold meeting

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - Sixty one lawmakers of the ACUM bloc and the Party of Socialists (PSRM) today assembled at a plenary meeting and voted more drafts in the first reading, among which the cancellation of the mixed voting system and return to the proportional one. The actions took place in the context in which, on 8 June, the Constitutional Court ruled that all laws and decisions adopted by Moldovan MPs on 8 June 2019 will be declared unconstitutional.
Under the draft approved in the first reading, the parliamentary elections are to be held in line with the proportional voting system, just as before the 24 February 2019 ballot. Also, independent candidates will be able to run at the polls, who will have to get at least two per cent of the votes to make it to parliament.
According to the parliament’s regulation, during ten days, the MPs can come up with amendments to the draft, before the final vote.
The lawmakers also approved, in the first reading, a draft which sees amendment of the procedure of dismissing the members of the Central Electoral Commission, as well as a draft on the amendment of the law on Prosecutor General’s Office.
