Over 450 homes protected from floods following IGSU intervention

Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/- Following works of strengthening protection dams damaged by weather conditions, more than 450 houses in several districts were protected from flooding in May- June.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the first actions to strengthen the protection dams were carried out on 24-29 May in Crocmaz, Ştefan Vodă district, where 417 people and 106 technical units were mobilized. As a result of the work carried out by rescuers, carabineers, soldiers and authorities, protection dams were strengthened in four localities, and in Crocmaz the dam was overhung with a meter over a length of 3 km. More than 31,000 bags of sand and clay were used for intervention in this region. Due to the rescuers and authorities, 121 houses and 400 ha of farmland with crops have been saved from the flood risk.

The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations announced it will continue to monitor the situation in the country to prevent risks.
