Moldovan PM asks authorities to ensure protection of citizens during heat

Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip asked the subdivisions of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the local public authorities to be in permanent cooperation and to provide the necessary protection for citizens during the heat, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Filip asked that during the high-temperature period, increased attention should be given to older people. Thus, elders who have no relatives or close people around, will be given the necessary help at home. To this end, elderly people will be visited by social workers and representatives of local public authorities.
Also starting today, anti-heat tents will be installed. Rehabilitation points will be set up in five distrcits of the capital, as well as in Balti, Cahul and Comrat. Anti-heat tents will work daily from 11.00 to 18.00. They aim to protect people from the harmful effects of the heat, especially in the afternoon.
At the same time, Filip stressed the need for accountability of owners of ponds and water reservoirs to prevent drowning.
