Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/- On the first day of setting up anti-heat tents, over 2,370 people benefited from assistance.
The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Liliana Puscasu, said that nine rehabilitation points were set up in the capital and throughout the country yesterday, so that people can be protected from the effects of heat.
"Five tents were installed in the capital and one in the districts of Comrat, Ungheni, Hincesti and Causeni. Rehabilitation points operate during high temperature days between 11.00 and 18.00.
In tents people can drink water, and if necessary, people can get first aid. The decision to place the tents was taken following the yellow code of heat on 11- 16 June," Puscasu said.
According to doctors, to prevent the negative effects of the heat and sunstroke, people should avoid excessive sun exposure between 11.00-18.00, wear sun hats, clothing made of natural fibers of bright colors, drink at least two liters of liquid, avoid drinks with caffeine or sugar and eat as many fruits and vegetables.
The State Hydrometeorological Service announced two days ago the Yellow Code of Heat for June 11-16, mostly in central and southern districts. During this period, the maximum air temperature will reach 34 degrees.
Specialists note that this June could become the hottest in recent years, a heat warning being less common for this period.
