Moldovan Democratic Party rules to withdraw from power

18:37 | 14.06.2019 Category: Political

Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ – The Democrats' party (PDM) has noted the refusal of the other parties to resolve the issue although it was ready to provide legal solutions for Socialists' party (PSRM) and block ACUM to function legally. Under these circumstances, in order to unlock the crisis in Moldova, the PDM has decided to withdraw from governance. The announcement was made on Friday, 14 June, by deputy head of PDM, Vladimir Cebotari, at the end of the meeting of the National Political Council (CPN) of party.

According to Cebotari, all Ministers of the Government of Filip are about to resign today. "The decision of PDM has a political effect and it will be a clear signal that the Democrats are eager to hold to power, which we have been talking about for several days. Our decision will not solve the issue of political and institutional blockage in which Moldova is placed. The task of fully taking over the government must be resolved by binomial PSRM – ACUM. We should like to make decisions by which the governance would be legally taken over but could not find compromises that could solve the entire crisis," added Cebotari.

The democrat has stated that in his opinion, no matter what solutions, while there are decisions by the Constitutional Court (CC), the Government that is going to be established will operate illegally, and the officials in the institutions will not be able to make decisions and are in a situation of legal risk. "In the end, it will be anticipated the only way the crisis can be resolved legally. The PDM remains open to dialogue and we are ready to find the best solutions," specified Cebotari.

He has specified that PDM is entering a new stage. "We shall do politics and activate to promote the interest of citizen and interest of Moldova. We shall fight against those who will try to federalise the country, sell it to pieces. And we shall fight for the promises made in electoral campaign to make lives of people better. We ask our supporters to support the decision we have made," said Cebotari.

The CC exposed on 08 June on term of office of the Parliament of the 10th legislature and decided that MPs in this legislature would form a Government by 07 June. Subsequently, the judges of CC declared unconstitutional all decisions adopted by the elected MPs on 24 February, including the decrees for appointment of a Prime Minister (PM) and a Cabinet of Ministers issued by the head of state.
