Yellow code of heat prolonged in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 June /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has extended the Yellow Code of heat by Tuesday, 18 June.
According to the SHS’s information and media communication service, on 17 June, on extended areas, the maximum air temperature may reach 33°C, at night – +21°C.
This week, there are also possible rainfalls. These ones are expected in north and centre areas of Moldova.
"The number of days with air temperature of 30ºC and above is on average 02 – 06 days in Moldova, maximum being 20 days (1999). The number of days with average air temperature of 35°C does not exceed 01 day on average, but in some years it has been reported up to 08 days (2012). The days with maximum air temperature in June of 40ºC were recorded only in 2012, in Falesti (01 day). Although it is only mid – June, it is already possible to say that we have a very warm and rainy summer start," specifies sources from SHS.
Recent week, with the issue of the Yellow Code heat, the authorities installed tents all over Moldova, where persons affected by heat can receive the necessary care. Also, physicians caution that especially elderly, pregnant women, cardiovascular, respiratory, and allergic patients should be cautious and avoid getting into the sun.
