Chisinau, 17 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Maia Sandu today introduced new Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Ala Nemerenco to the ministry’s staff today. The PM noted that the institution might be separated.
The prime minister noted that the Health Ministry might be separated from the Labour and Social Protection Ministry. “The merger of the two ministries was a bad decision. I do not understand why people did not want to learn from the previous experience, as we had experienced such mergers. We saw that the results are bad. This is my personal opinion, but I will opt for the separation of these two ministries. There are complicated agendas on each of the dimensions. What I promise you is to have a discussion and correct this decision, which I deem as uninspired,” Maia Sandu said.
The new minister referred to the problems in the medical system, noting that the medical staff, social assistants and patients would represent No 1 on the working agenda.
Ala Nemerenco is 60 years old; she is physician by profession and on the last period she has worked as international expert in health systems and consultancy at the World Health Organization. Earlier, Nemerenco had held the position of chief specialist at the Health Ministry in the family medicine sector. In 2005, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by the Swiss organization 1000 Women for Peace.
