Moldovan PM meets Head of EU Delegation in Chisinau

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Maia Sandu has had a meeting with Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Peter Michalko.
At the meeting, the PM gave assurances that the new cabinet “will fulfill the provisions of the Association Agreement with EU and will observe all commitments as to the reforms and principles established in the Association Agreement.” Maia Sandu made statements to this effect in a posting on her official page on a social network.
At the same time, Peter Michalko informed that “the European Union is ready to re-open the discussions on the macro-financial assistance, provide financial support for cross-border cooperation projects and back us with international expertise to strengthen the democratic institutions.”
The prime minister on 17 June also had an official meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan. “Mr. Ambassador assured us that the USA will closely cooperate with the new government for the consolidation of the rule of law state and creation of strong institutions, due to ensure high living standards for all Moldova’s citizens. The strategic partnership with the United States is a priority of the Moldovan foreign policy,” Maia Sandu said.
Also on June 17 June, Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated Maia Sandu on her appointment to the office of prime minister and European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn is expected to come to Chisinau on 19 June.
