Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - The citizenship through investments might be cancelled. The parliament adopted a draft law providing for the amendment of the law on citizenship in the first reading today.
The draft’s authors say that the opportunity to receive the citizenship of Moldova in exchange for investments worth 100,000 euros might have disastrous consequences for the country’s security and safety of the citizens.
The authors noted that they had earlier informed about these risks more state structures, among which also the National Anticorruption Centre.
The MPs of the ACUM bloc criticized also the fact that the names of the persons who had got the Moldovan citizenship were not contained in the president’s decrees on the providing of the citizenship through investments, published in the Official Journal.
Data put out by competent institutions shows that one person has benefited from the right to get citizenship through investments and another 22 have submitted applications since the implementation of the concerned programme.
