Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/- Gas supply through Ungheni - Chisinau pipeline will be launched in February - March 2020. Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Vadim Branzan made the statement today.
Branzan said on a television show on 18 June that by late 2019 the construction of the new pipeline will be ready for about 90 percent.
"Funding has been released, the project is ongoing, and there are certain bureaucratic obstacles that can be resolved. The problem is we have to find solutions for this winter, as the contract we have with Gazprom expires in this December. In this respect, I do not think there are reasons for concern, we are working, looking for solutions and they will be found, "Branzan said.
Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline is the second phase of Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau interconnection project. It will have a length of 120 km and a capacity to transport annually about 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas from Romania to the Republic of Moldova. The construction of the pipeline was launched earlier this year.
