Damaged block in Otaci to be demolished

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/- The damaged block in Otaci, where a staircase collapsed last night, will be demolished. The decision was taken this morning by the Commission for Emergencies.

The press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations / IGSU / Liliana Puscasu said that a crisis cell was formed after the incident in Otaci.

At present, law enforcement restricted access to damaged building in order not to endanger people's lives. The area will be secured by law enforcement bodies, and an ambulance will be on spot.

At the same time, the decision was made to clear the area around the damaged construction by preparing the ground for demolition.

According to IGSU, 12 technical units and 45 employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations are deployed on-site.

On the evening of 19 June, 46 people, including 11 children, were evacuated by rescuers before the staircase of a 9-storey building collapsed.
