Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ – The state will provide all residents of the 09 – floor block – of – flats in Otaci city, where a staircase fell on 19 June, with permanent homes. The announcement was made by the head of state Igor Dodon after a visit to the northern part of Moldova.
President Igor Dodon has paid a visit to Otaci city on 20 June morning to document the circumstances of breaking down a staircase of a block – of – flats.
"I chaired an operative meeting with participation of district and city administration and leadership of the Local unit of emergency situations (DLSU). I communicated with the persons who were evacuated from this block. According to preliminary estimates, there were several causes, including the commissioning of the block with various violations, permanent accumulation of water in the basement and unauthorised modifications in the building of the block – partial demolition of the basement walls by some dwellers. According to the statements of the Emergency Situations Department (DSU), the block will most likely be demolished," specified the head of state on his official website.
He has specified that the state would provide all the victims with permanent housing. "For it, we are examining various options, including the compensation of destroyed dwellings, at market prices, for the purchase of new flats," wrote Dodon.
The President of Moldova has requested an inspection of the multi – floored blocks of the same series in all localities of Moldova.
