Moldovan PM asks for assessment of buildings in areas affected by heavy rain

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Maia Sandu asked today the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISGU) and other responsible institutions “to check all buildings mainly the kindergartens, schools and residential buildings in the localities that have been affected by heavy rain, make sure there is no risk in other localities for other people.”
"I asked the officials of the relevant institutions to have a meeting as soon as possible, to see the damage of the people in the building in Otaci and find the way we can compensate for the damage. Let's see what is the best way to provide people with housing, resources and money for a period of time."
On the evening of 19 June, 46 people, including 11 children, were evacuated by rescuers in Otaci, a tragedy being prevented. Following the collapse of the block of flats, no casualties were reported. The situation is monitored by IGSU.
