More than 100,000 ballot papers to be printed for elections of governor of south Moldova Gagauz region

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 107,499 ballot papers will be printed to hold the elections of the governor (bashkan) of the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri, under a decision by the electoral commission from Comrat (Gagauz administrative centre).
The commission members approved the form and content of the ballot paper, due to be used at the elections of the bashkan. The ballot paper will have a mauve colour, a width of 140 millimeters and the candidates will be included in the order in which they have been registered by the autonomy’s electoral commission.
The figure 107,499 sees the number of the voters of the autonomy, as well as a reserve of one per cent of all voters, according to the website www.gagauzinfo.md.
As many as 3,108 ballot papers will be printed in Gagauz language and 2,722 ones – in Romanian. Traditionally, most ballot papers (101,669) will be printed in Russian.
The autonomy’s citizens who are hospitals, asylums, sanatoriums, who are on military service, etc. will also be able to vote on the day of the polls. Mobile ballot boxes will be operational for them.
The elections of the bashkan will be held on 30 June 2019.
The governor (bashkan) is the highest official figure of the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri. All public administration authorities of the autonomy are subordinated to the bashkan. The governor’s elections take place once in four years.
