Regional forum from north Moldova city focuses on energy optimization of schools

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ - The challenges and conclusions of the process of renovation and energy optimization of schools were the subjects of a roundtable, held in Balti on 19 June. The event took place within the EU Sustainable Energy Week in Moldova – 2019, carried out on 17-21 June, based on projects on enhancing the energy efficiency, implemented through Regional Development Agencies, with the European Union’s financial support.
Attending the meeting were representatives of designing companies, district energy managers from the region, project partners, other interested sides. The delegates discussed the stages of implementation of energy efficiency projects and processes of working out the project technical documentation, content and phases of designing.
The participants in the event considered details dealing with aspects concerning energy efficiency investment measures, such as the architectural aspect (building’s structures, walls, facades, roof, basement), management of the architectural heritage (concepts of rood and façade structures, including the integration of windows, basement), ventilation, warming, illumination, electric networks, related installations (water and sewerage networks, rain water, lightning rod protection, etc.), price of building’s rehabilitation against the costs for a new building.
Two projects on energy efficiency of two education institutions are under implementation in the North Development Region. It is about the Dimitrie Cantemir theoretical lyceum from Balti and Iurie Boghiu gymnasium from the Flamanzeni village, northern Sangerei district.
It is estimated that, following the implementation of the project at the Dimitrie Cantemir lyceum, the annual energy consumption of energy at this education institution will decrease by 547 MWh and the annual emissions of CO2 – by 125 tons. The project’s estimative value is of more than 1.2 million euros.
As a result of the implementation of the project from the Iurie Boghiu gymnasium, the yearly consumption of energy will drop by about 552 MWh and the annual emissions of CO2 – by 118 tons. The project’s estimative value is of 1.26 million euros.
The two energy efficiency projects are financed by the European Union, in cooperation with the project, Modernization of Local Public Services in Moldova. The project is implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency, in partnership with the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry and is financially backed by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, governments of Sweden, Romania and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
