New minister of foreign affairs introduced to staff

Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Maia Sandu introduced today new Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicolae Popescu to the ministry employees. The premier assured him of all support from the government.

Sandu said that in recent years, our country has been somewhat isolated internationally, and Moldovan diplomats have been unable to explain the government actions. Maia Sandu assured that the situation would change and urged officials to work only for the benefit of the citizens and not of any party.

"Today it will be easier for you to do your work because we want to promote democracy. We ask you to work strictly in the interest of the citizen and not for any party. I am sure we will have the support of parliament for all good initiatives from MAEIE. We have an ambitious plan to re-establish the political dialogue, first of all with the EU. You have all our support, "Sandu said.

Nicolae Popescu said before the ministry staff he wants an apolitical ministry and "foreign policy success depends on the context of internal policies".

"The EU-Moldova Association Agreement is my bedside book, it will be our daily guide. Only by implementing this document we will have a foreign policy that will help our citizens to live better ", he said.

The Cabinet of Ministers headed by Prime Minister Maia Sandu was sworn in on 8 June.
