Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - The leadership of the enterprise, Central Market, from the capital has been dismissed. The acting general mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu, made statements to this effect today. At the same time, the acting mayor said that he had notified the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the Interior Ministry (MAI) about eventual corruption acts at the Central Market.
According to Codreanu, even if the old leadership of the Central Market was dismissed and a new chief was appointed at the enterprise, nevertheless, economic agents working there further complain that illegal taxes are collected and that they are subjected to pressure.
„I have discussed with over 100 enterprises since last Monday till now. They also submitted notifications. There are quite serious charges: they speak about 7,500 euros, 600,000 lei, which are collected as taxes from economic agents. All of them submitted official notifications to the city hall, which read about the concerned irregularities. All notifications were sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office. Today, I signed the demarche, thereby demanding also the intervention of MAI,” the acting mayor also said.
In these conditions, Codreanu said that, starting from today, the leadership of the Central Market would be dismissed from office and a new director and two deputy directors of the enterprise would be appointed in early next week. At the same time, an audit will be carried out at the Central Market, in order to verify the incomes and expenses of the enterprise from the last years.
In April 2019, a new director was appointed at the Central Market, after the previous chief had been dismissed because of the discontents of more enterprises working on the Market’s territory.
