New cases of hindering free movement recorded in Security Zone of Moldova

Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ – During the meeting of the Joint Control Commission (CUC) on 20 June, in a tense manner, there continued discussions of the issue of abusive establishment by the Tiraspol structures in the Security Zone (ZS) of additional stationary stations of so – called border guards and mobile patrols "border guards and customs officers", the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.
Neither this time, there have not been supported by the interlocutors the attempts of Moldovan delegation to place the issue on new illegal border posts of Transnistrian border guards in the area of locality Pohrebea. On it, the delegations of Russia and Transnistrian region insisted on the exit of military observers for just stating the existance of post, without underlining that its establishment constitutes a violation of the decisions of Commission.
Related to it, it is worth mentioning of selective application of provisions of the Commission protocols and biased treatment of cases of abuse committed by the Transnistrian side.
Also, during the meeting, there were heard the members of working groups, especially the ones on the issues in ZS and mediated by representative of the OSCE Mission. With reference to Transnistrian border post Zagornoe – Copanca, which was established instead of the pacification one, it was found out the representatives of the Transnistrian party and Russia in the Joint Military Command (CMI) invoked some superficial reasons and they did not perform the task of transmitting the requested materials, found in the archive of military component management.
As a result, the OSCE Mission Representative warned about the creation of a blockage and called for direct involvement of delegation leaders to boost the work of the one responsible for delaying the provision of requested documentation.
Similarly, following a series of cases of intimidation and detention of the inhabitants of village Chircaiesti by the border guards and customs officers of Transnistria, on segment of Chircaiesti and Chitcani localities and near the Botna river, the Moldovan delegation evoked the provocative practices of the structures subordinated to Tiraspol, which violates the right of citizens to free movement.
In an address to representatives of Russia, OSCE Mission and Ukraine, the Moldovan delegation requested assistance in maintaining the situation in ZS in accordance with provisions of the Moldovan – Russian Agreement of 21 July 1992 and decisions adopted at the level of CUC.
Also, during the hearing, it was heard the report of CUC on situation in ZS for 12 – 18 June 2019.
