Deputy premier for reintegration meets Head of EU Delegation in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ – On 21 June, deputy Prime Minister, Vasilii Sova, has had a meeting with the head of the EU Delegation in Chisinau, Peter Michalko.

According to the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service, the officials have discussed a wide range of issues on the Transnistrian dimension.

It was emphasised upon the need for intensified joint efforts aimed at promoting confidence building measures between the inhabitants of both banks of the Dniester river and stimulating the regulatory process.

The deputy PM specified that it would ensure the continuity of implementation of the agreed agreements in the so – called Berlin plus package, constant interaction at the level of sectoral working groups, and intervened with the call to maintain the tangible results approach in common with external partners and on effectiveness of the 5+2 negotiation format.

The officials also discussed the project initiatives to be supported through the European Union Programme entitled: Measures for Promoting Trust, which was in the 5th stage of implementation for 2019 – 2021, with a an estimated budget of €10.6 million and targeting the relevant actors on both sides of the Dniester river as beneficiaries.

Among the issues addressed, it was the conduct of the 32nd meeting of the EUBAM Consultative Council to be held in Odessa, Ukraine on 27 June 2019, as well as the necessity to organise the visit in the near perspective of Moldova's representatives of mediators and observers in the 5 + 2 format of negotiations.

At the meeting end, the deputy PM for Reintegration expressed his gratitude for an active involvement and productive contribution of EU in the Transnistrian settlement process.
