Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - The damaged block of flats from the Otaci settlement, northern Ocnita district, will be demolished. At the same, decision-makers will make the technical expertise of all blocks of apartments from this settlement and the authorities will earmark needed money for the purchasing of new dwellings for the families hit. Prime Minister Maia Sandu announced these decisions today, after a meeting of the Commission for Emergency situations, summoned at the government.
„We ruled to delegate people who are to make the expertise of the adjacent block of flats and other blocks from the settlement, which might be in a risky situation. We established that a company must be employed, which is to demolish the building, which is half-collapsed. We also ruled to calculate how much a dwelling would cost in the concerned settlement, so as to urgently adopt the financial assistance for the people hit,” PM Maia Sandu said.
Head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Mihail Harabagiu said that rescuers were continuing the works at the damaged block of flats. Thus, the concrete plates running the risk of falling down were disassembled today.
A staircase of a nine-storied block of apartments from Otaci collapsed on 19 June evening. Rescuers managed to evacuate the residents several hours before the incident.
