Moldovan premier meets over 100 representatives of non-governmental organizations

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ - Over 100 representatives of non-governmental organizations today had a meeting with Prime Minister Maia Sandu. The participants in the event stressed the need of a close cooperation with the civil society, as a defining element of an efficient governance, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
„We want a sincere collaboration between the government and the civil society; we want this relation to be professional and to help us improve the quality of decisions and we want the communication platforms to be functional,” the prime minister said.
The participants in the consultative meeting highlighted the most pressing problems faced by the associative environment and made a string of recommendations needed for facilitating the civil society’s participation in the decision-making process. “We want you to become stronger, so that you are the basis of the democracy and help the governance improve its policies and decisions,” Maia Sandu also said.
At the meeting, civil society’s representatives stressed the need to ensure the enforcement of action plan of the civil society’s development strategy, to enhance the transparency in the decision-taking process, revise the law on the access to information and the law on personal data. Among the recommendations, they mentioned initiatives to include legal entities in the 2 % Law, to provide NGOs with rooms for carrying out their activity, as well as the development of social services for persons with disabilities.
In the end of the meeting, the prime minister proposed to work out an action plan, due to contain the idea of setting up a council of experts, as well as the creation of communities due to participate in the elaboration of public policies and government decisions.
