Office of state secretary to become responsible public office in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ - The office of state secretary will become responsible public office. The parliament approved a draft law to this effect in the first reading today.  

Under the draft, the status of the offices of “secretary general of the government,” “state secretary” and of “head or deputy head of territorial office of the State Chancellery” will be changed from public offices into responsible public offices.   

Also, the draft’s authors proposed to establish the office of secretary general of the ministry, which is to replace the position of state secretary general.   

At the same time, the document regards the delimiting of the powers of “state secretary” and “secretary general of ministry.” Thus, the state secretaries will have the duty to assist a minister in the process of carrying out the government’s action programme.   

The state secretaries will be appointed and dismissed by the government, at a proposal by the prime minister and the number of secretaries will be set depending on the sectors managed by the ministry. In the absence of the minister, the state secretary will fulfill the leadership duties and will be able to participate in cabinet meetings.   

To become a law, the draft is to be considered in final reading.
