Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Vadim Branzan presented the economic situation today. He said that gas prices could rise.
The official did not say how much the price could increase. Tariffs were set to increase in 2018, but they were artificially maintained and even reduced by 20 percent in March last year.
"The gas price included in the tariffs is lower than the current price we pay for the purchased gas. We are already negotiating with Gazprom company in this regard", Vadim Branzan said.
The official also said that carriers also require increasing travel rates. He said that in this case, travel prices should have been gradually rising as early as 2013.
Regarding the citizenship acquisition program through investments, the minister noted that Moldova will have to pay compensation if it decides to terminate the contract on its implementation. According to Branzan, the amount could reach several million euros. He said that this time the program was stopped to analyze all its provisions. Meanwhile, 34 people filed the documents to get Moldovan citizenship in exchange for investments.
Recently, the parliament adopted in first reading a bill that provides for the cancellation of citizenship by investment.
