Storm, rains, strong wind expected in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/ - Three Yellow Codes, of heat, atmospheric instability and wind gusting, will determine the weather all over Moldova till 29 June.    

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS), the warnings of heat and atmospheric instability are valid till 28 June. On this period, the air temperature is expected to reach +33 - +34 Celsius degrees practically all over the country. Also, meteorologists expect thunderstorm rains, heavy ones in places (15-45 litres square metre), with hail and strong wind, gusting to 15-20 metres/second.   

On 28 June, when a cooling of the weather to +25 - +27 degrees is forecast, strong wind is also expected. According to SHS, the north-western wind is expected to gust to 15-20 metres/second in most regions on the same day.   

“This year, we can say that we have had a June with most unstable weather of the last years, characterized by more meteorological and hydrological warnings. A similar situation was recorded on the entire European continent, where the heavy rains, devastating ones in some regions, with strong wind and hail, were replaced by an awful heat. This is what is partially explained also by the consequences of the phenomenon of climate changes,” SHS sources have told MOLDPRES.   

In case of Yellow Code, the weather conditions are potentially dangerous; the meteorological phenomena forecast (thunderstorm rains, wind gusting, high or low air temperatures, risk of increase in the flow and level of rivers and small rivers, etc.) are usual for Moldova’s territory; yet, they may temporarily become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
