Parliaments of Moldova, Russia to boost dialogue

Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/ – Speaker of Parliament, Zinaida Greceanii, has had a meeting with Valentina Matvienko, the President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, on Thursday, 27 June.
According to the parliament's information and public relations department, the parties have reviewed the political situation in Moldova and highlighted the priorities of parliamentary majority in their relations with Russia. The head of legislature reiterated the need to intensify the dialogue, including the parliamentary affiliation, and mentioned the need to use all parliamentary instruments to achieve cooperation objectives in the interest of Moldova and people.
During the meeting, it has been officially launched the initiative to institutionalise mutually beneficial cooperation relations at regional level. The President of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly has noted that although interparliamentary relations have been frozen in recent years, the rich and long – standing Moldovan – Russian history will allow the successful resumption of dialogue and good cooperation. Valentina Matvienko invited the delegation of Moldovan Parliament to the next CIS Interparliamentary Assembly meeting, being an important platform for discussion and an opportunity to develop interparliamentary relations.
The SP is paying a working visit to Russia on 26 – 27 June, at the invitation of the head of State Duma. The delegation consists of the deputy heads of Parliament: Ion Ceban and Alexandru Slusari and the secretary of the National Security Commission, Defence and Public Order, MP Oazu Nantoi.
The Moldovan SP delivered today a speech in the plenary session of the State Duma. Zinaida Greceanii also met with the President of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Veaceslav Volodin, and with Russian PM, Dmitry Medvedev.
