Moldovan PM meets business environment's representatives

Chisinau, 28 June /MOLDPRES/ - The biggest concerns of investors and economic agents from Moldova, as well as the measures needed for the development of the business environment were discussed by Prime Minister Maia Sandu with representatives of the European Business Association (EBA) and the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

„Large-scale illegalities and fiscal evasion facts have taken place in Moldova during more years. I want to know what must change, so that you can get incomes legally, not have to look for gates to survive, so that we do not deceive each other. I want a sincere relation. I promise the government’s respect for the business people who work honestly,” the PM said.

Maia Sandu gave assurances that the present government had political will to improve the conditions of the business environment in the country. She noted that the private sector was the one staying at the basis of the improvement of the citizens’ living standards, through the creation of jobs, as well as increase in salaries.   

During the discussion, the business environment’s representatives thanked the prime minister for the openness provided, noting that the predictability, political stability, as well as the potential of a country were the premises for the creation of an attractive investment climate.  

In particular, the participants in the meeting tackled problems they are facing. Among them, there are the non-functional judicial system, defective legislative framework of the waste management, lack of reliability of the banking system, inefficiency of the education system, which does not provide the market with qualified staff, migration phenomenon, bureaucracy, existence of monopolies, lack of transparent procedures as to the food safety control, as well as the lack of openness on behalf of the local authorities and civil servants.     

Prime Minister Maia Sandu reiterated the government’s support for the business environment which observes the law, employees and consumers. She said that, in the near future, the cabinet would present a plan of measures in which the most pressing problems of Moldova’s business environment will be prioritized. The plan will comprise a string of actions for the next months, which will contribute to the removal of the hindrances to the work of business in Moldova.
