New model tickets to be issued in trolleybuses of Chisinau municipality starting July

Chisinau, 01 July /MOLDPRES/ – Starting 01 July 2019, the passengers travelling with trolleybuses in Chisinau municipality will get new type tickets. The officials have assured that they have increased security and their falsification is not be possible any more.

The initiative belongs to I.M. Chisinau Electric Transport Company (RTEC) and aims to reduce losses due to the sale of fake tickets.

The Chisinau acting mayor, Ruslan Codreanu, has said Monday that the new tickets were purchased after the stock of old tickets had been used. For the printing of the new tickets, it was spent an amount of MDL 430 thousand /almost €21 thousand/, a sum that, according to Codreanu, is MDL 80 thousand higher than the one paid for the previous lot of tickets with similar volume.

Codreanu has also said that the acquisition was necessary because electronic ticketing in public transport in Chisinau municipality might be implemented in at least six months.

According to head of RTEC, Dorin Ciornii, if there were depicted 400 falsified tickets in 2017, then in 2018 the number reached up to 8,000 ones.

Totally, there have been printed an amount of 42 million tickets, which is the need for travel tickets by end of 2019.

The new model of trolleybus tickets of 29x47 mm is made from grayish paper and contains printed iridescent prints to prevent reproduction.

There are transported 150 million passengers by RTEC yearly.
