Child – birth one – off allowance to increase in Moldova

Chisinau, 01 July /MOLDPRES/ – The childbirth one – off allowance will be increased by MDL 1,608 and up to amount of MDL 7,911 /almost €380/. The decision has been announced on 01 July by the Minister of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection, Ala Nemerenco.

Thus, the increase of MDL 1,608 will be granted in exchange for the box received by the parents at the birth of child within Governmental campaign: A new life.

"This increase consists into the value of the goods box. We decided to do it because it forced us into the situation, and mothers should not suffer, and because we think that mothers could use that amount to buy those things they think necessary. Every family has the right to decide what is best for their child and what their urgent needs are, instead of securing profits for some companies," said the healthcare minister.

Ala Nemerenco has added that the officers will still assess the opinion of mothers to find out whether they prefer to receive the box of goods or their nominal value at birth.

Campaign: A new life was launched at the end of 2018. In the end, by the end of May, there were purchased about 14,000 boxes, auctioned in 2018. In order to continue offering boxes after 01 June, it was needed for a new auction which failed.
