Euro, U.S. dollar continue to depreciate against Moldovan leu

Chisinau, 01 July /MOLDPRES/ – The European single currency (EUR) and U.S dollar (USD) continue to cheapen against Moldovan leu (MDL) on Tuesday, 02 July, according to the official exchange rates set by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).

Thus, the value of EUR depreciates with MDL 0.12 on 02 July, down to the level of MDL 20.49 for €1. The cost of USD depreciates by MDL 0.03 down to the level of MDL 18.08 for $1.

Also, the cost of Romanian leu (RON) depreciates to the value of MDL 04.33, with MDL 0.02 less than on 01 July.

As such, the official price of Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH) and Russian rouble (RUB) remain unchanged: UAH – MDL 0.69 and RUB – MDL 0.28.

The economist of IDIS Viitorul, Veaceslav Ionita, has written on 01 July that in IInd quarter of 2019, MDL has faced the highest depreciation within recent 04 years compared to EUR and USD exchange basket, which is 5.3 per cent.
