Romania to provide assistance to Moldova dedicated to consolidation of state institutions, announces head of Romania

Chisinau, 02 July /MOLDPRES/ – Romania will provide assistance to Moldova dedicated to consolidation of state institutions and continue bilateral projects, especially the strategic ones and energy interconnection. The statement has been made on Tuesday, 02 July, by President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, at a joint conference with Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, on her first official visit to Bucharest.
The Romanian President has reiterated that Moldova has all the support of Bucharest in promoting the agenda of pro – European reforms and in advancing the strategic partnership of Moldova – EU. "Romania has been, is and will be the most constant and dedicated supporter of Moldova for democratic transformation of the country, in order to reach the level of prosperity and security that its citizens want and for its European path," said Iohannis.
He has specified that Romania, in coordination with its European partners, will support the unblocking of EU financial assistance to Moldova, necessary for investment in reforms, and ask the European experts, including Romanian ones, to resume the work of bilateral integration commission of Moldova in EU.
Prime Minister Maia Sandu has requested support and assistance from Romania, including high level counseling. "We need the support of our Romanian friends, especially because they link us not only to common economic interests, but also to a common historical, cultural and value basis," said Sandu.
The head of the cabinet has also reiterated the interest in continuing programmes for rehabilitation of schools and kindergartens, development of projects in the field of environmental protection, water supply and sewerage systems of rural population, energy interconnection, infrastructure. "The plenary realisation of these projects will further strengthen the confidence of citizens in viability of the Strategic Partnership (PS) of Moldova and Romania," added Maia Sandu.
PM Maia Sandu pays her first official visit to Bucharest today, at invitation of Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis. Also today, Maia Sandu will have a meeting at Victoria Palace with Romanian PM Viorica Dancila. Subsequently, it will also meet with representatives of Parliament in Bucharest.
